Products you need at home
Have you ever experienced not being satisfied with a hair color treatment at the hairdresser? A topic that can be sensitive to talk about for both parties – both the hairdresser and the client.
At October Stockholm, we constantly receive questions for our Online Support about what or how to do if a color treatment has gone wrong – both at home and at the hairdresser. For this reason, we have collected some tips and tricks for how you can fix it yourself.
Three products you should always have at home
We have a wide range of hair products for home use and have selected the best products to ensure a great hair day. You can trust that the products will give a professional and long-lasting result. There are three products that we recommend all our customers to always have at home. These are True Blond Plex, Colour Reboot and Clear.
Our professional bleaching True Blond Plex
If you want to achieve a lighter shade of your hair, you will need to bleach it because dye cannot lighten color. True Blond Plex is a professional bleach with blue pigments that comes in powder form and is mixed with hydrogen peroxide (Activator Emulsion Cream) 5 vol or 20 vol, or mix both to 10 vol.
If you want to bleach your hair, you need to be aware that bleaching affects the structure of the hair. Bleaching can lighten the hair up to nine levels and the treatment bleaches both artificial and natural pigments. Bleaching causes the hair to swell, which causes the bonds in the hair to become weaker and lose their elasticity. It is therefore important not to stress blonde hair, it is much gentler for the hair to choose a slower process. Read more about True Blond Plex here.
Restore your hair with Colour Reboot
The second product we want to recommend is Colour Reboot. It is used to restore hair from impurities, old colour residues, minerals or metals. This is done so that the new hair colour will have the most even result possible. You should also cleanse your hair if you are a loyal user of silver products because they can also leave pigments in the hair that can be affected by hydrogen peroxide. This applies regardless of which hair colour you use.
We always recommend having a Colour Reboot at home, it is a perfect product to use as a base before colouring, bleaching or if your hair colour has gone wrong. Read more about Colour Reboot here.
Mix your hair color with Clear
The third and final product that we think is essential to have at home is Clear. Clear is a transparent color that can be used in several ways. It can be mixed with the hair color you want to achieve, thus reducing the risk of the hair absorbing too much pigment and creating an unwanted shade.
Clear can also be used on the lengths to create shine, it does not affect the color you have chosen to use as a base color, for example. We recommend using Clear when coloring gray hair to give the hair shine and luster. The amount of Clear you should use depends on the shade you want to achieve. If you are very light blonde, have been in the sun a lot or have previously bleached your hair, your hair will be very porous and can absorb a lot of pigment when coloring. For this reason, we recommend mixing the hair color with Clear to prevent the hair from turning into an unwanted shade. Read more about Clear here.
